What you will be doing

Role Summary:

Build strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to increase supply visibility and work with the supply chain team to identify and drive supply performance improvements. You will manage and develop suppliers, to include the implementation of specific supplier agreements and lead in price negotiations.

To maintain compliance with procurement strategy in your defined category which ensures timely procurement of goods for onward supply to external stakeholders.

Work closely with key external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of MWI Animal Health supply chain and internal stakeholders are kept ahead of the competition and proactively ensure continuity of supply.

To establish good processes and performance management with multiple vendors, enabling the completion of day to day transactional tasks and the identification of marginal improvements.

Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure promotional activity whether this be from vendors or customers is proactively managed ensuring MWI Animal Health has sufficient stock availability to meet customer expectations.

Understand industry, economic and social influencers which directly impact on the product choice at customer level in order to provide a rounded view of the market which we serve. Educate and inform wider business where required. You will develop expertise in your assigned category and will become the go to person for advice and queries.

To have full understanding of the products by therapeutic indication within your apportioned category enabling identification and sourcing of alternatives from within UK and rest of world where UK Supply constraints prevail.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with Supply Chain associates and Master Data team to;

  • Provide accurate information to the to facilitate the correct set up of new products.
  • Ensure the provision of prompt updates of item master data (for product / pack updates by vendors)
  • Maintain an appropriate forecast and initial stocking order for new products.
  • Use product and market knowledge to sense check requisitions ensuring at all times ensuring compliance with procurement strategy as directed by management.
  • Expedite purchase orders against a schedule request and based on achieving best price/maintenance of appropriate stock levels.
  • Manage the run out / risk of stock on discontinued lines.
  • Effective management and communication of any potential supply constraint and sourcing alternative product.
  • Work closely Supply Chain Manager and Vendorsto review and implement strategic buy forwards.
  • The ongoing review of product performance to include recommendations for de-stocking or changes to forecast type.

Work closely with vendors to;

  • Lead business partner reviews.
  • Measure and control the reliability of vendors concerning cost, quality, packing, conformity with standards and set timelines.
  • Ensure timely feedback regarding their performance and ensure channels of communication are open to the receipt of feedback about MWI Animal Health from the vendor perspective.
  • Manage and communicate information which may impact on the supply chain operation.
  • Understand the timings and availability of NPD.
  • Understand vendor challenges and get under the skin of their operations.
  • Ensure that MWI Animal Health are notified at least four weeks in advance of any promotion and identify opportunities to:
  • Negotiate SOR agreements
  • Buy Forward
  • Extension of trading terms
  • Understand the timings and forecast for products on promotion.
  • Manage any rebrand activities ensuring all aspects of MWI Animal Health are engaged.

Other;

  • At all times seek to create a strong portfolio of own brand products within the assigned category working closely with the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to communicate availability issues (shortages, production delays, etc.).
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to support recommendations for safety stock based on sales, lead times and supplier performance.
  • Monitor and feedback quality issues to proactively improve performance.
  • When product is unavailable from designated source to resource product from other avenues taking into account price, demand and regulatory compliance.
  • Support Supply Chain associates to provide cover for the other areas of the business in times of holiday and sickness.
  • Develop understanding of supply and delivery to develop customer focussed solutions.
  • Ensure compliance to procurement policy and SOPs ensuring GDP and GDPR are maintained at all times.
